What is due right now, split into Needs Attention and Coming Up, plus the emergency numbers one tap away. Tasks show up in the order they can actually be done, so you are not chasing a form you cannot file yet. Tasks name the rule behind them.
Moving overseas means figuring out which office to contact, what paperwork to bring and what comes next. Boris organizes your KMC checklist around your status and household. This website also offers starting points for Germany, Italy and Japan; additional app destination access is being verified. Free, with no account and no login.

Boris asks about your status, branch and who is moving with you, including pets and vehicles. Those answers shape your tasks. Active duty, GS civilian, contractor and NAF paths have different paperwork and benefits, so Boris keeps their guidance separate.
Your health cover, base legal help, and the offices to go to in the order you need them, not alphabetically. If your spouse or kids fly in later on their own orders, Boris runs that as its own list.
Civilian housing and temporary-lodging steps stay separate from military ones. Boris helps you prepare questions and paperwork for your personnel office; your appointment and authorization determine which benefits apply.
Your employer and contract shape your move. Boris gives you contractor-specific tasks and local guidance, with reminders to confirm status paperwork, relocation support and benefits with your employer.
An overseas appointment and a local hire can lead to different steps. Boris keeps NAF guidance separate and points you back to your appointment paperwork and HRO for the benefits that apply to you.
You are in one of three. Boris shows that one and holds the other two back until you get there.
From the day orders drop to your first month here. Getting ready to fly, the trip, and everything with a deadline once you land.
Living here. Where to go, how to save money, who speaks English.
Leaving. What to cancel, in what order, and the things people forget until it is too late.
Your next tasks, local context and practical help stay together. Official guidance links to its source wherever possible.
What is due right now, split into Needs Attention and Coming Up, plus the emergency numbers one tap away. Tasks show up in the order they can actually be done, so you are not chasing a form you cannot file yet. Tasks name the rule behind them.
Doctors, mechanics, tax preparers and schools in the KMC where somebody speaks English, plus local guides and events for your community. Boris checks its KMC directory listings again on a regular schedule instead of leaving them to go stale.
Key dates, a currency converter, lodging meal logs and a PCS budget tracker. Germany also has templates for cancelling a lease or contract before you leave. Availability and instructions follow your destination and status.
Your status and household, and Team Up: the same checklist shared between two phones, sealed between the two, so a spouse sees it too.
For Germany-specific examples, read the driving answer and the Anmeldung answer.
Boris does not calculate your entitlements — your finance office does that, and their number is the one that counts. New app setup currently offers KMC. Checklist feeds for additional communities exist, but selectable destination access is being verified. Local directory availability and guide depth vary; check each destination page.
No account, no email, no login. Your status, your saved places and your checked-off tasks live on your phone. If you pair a partner's phone with Team Up, encrypted messages pass through a relay server so the other phone can receive them. See the privacy details for retention and limits. That costs you something: there is no restoring your progress on a new phone, because there is no consumer-account backup to restore from.
Every network call Boris makes is listed on the privacy architecture page. Read the promise in one line on the privacy page.
I have never done a PCS. I am not military, and I am not affiliated with the DoD. You should know that before you trust anything in here.
My wife Irina and I run a temporary-lodging house in Landstuhl called Mumo’s Inn, so most families we meet are three days off the plane holding a folder nobody explained to them. Four years of kitchen-table conversations became this app. I moved to Germany myself too — different rules, same feeling.
My boutique studio in Landstuhl — advertising first, back in South America, then industrial visualization here in Europe: VR apps and touchscreens for trade shows, on projects for ZEISS, thyssenkrupp, ABB and Bizerba among them. The two jobs turned out to be the same one: take something complicated and get a person to understand it in about a minute.
Mumo’s Inn is listed in the Boris directory. On this website it’s labeled as run by the founder’s family — you should hear that from me rather than find it. Full legal details are in the Impressum.
Boris™ is free for military families, and the local businesses that support it help keep it that way.
